Studio G7 presents Clinamen, Silvia Listorti’s first solo exhibition.
This project, flanked by a text by Federico Ferrari, is made up of a selection of hitherto unexhibited works which serve to open an ongoing dialogue with the gallery.
The installation entitled Se le orecchie vedono e gli occhi ascoltano (If ears could see and eyes could listen) is comprised of nine white terracotta elements laid out according to a rhythm which is at once precise and rigorous. Alle spalle, la notte (Behind us, night) – a work made of glass – is characterized by sinuous forms which remain pointedly ambiguous. The individual meanings of the artist's sculptural elements declare her predilection for the body and its incessant changes and her attention to the precariousness and fragility of forms. This is how skin displays and reveals itself, in the sculpted elements, like some opaque outline to be traced and sought after.
The parsimonious use of markings, the careful placement of colors in space and materials on surfaces are reflected in the series Sovrapposizione (Juxtaposition), consisting of a series of sheets of rice paper onto which graphite and pure pigments have been layered which coalesce into a new material that can no longer be separated into its constituent elements.
Responding and corresponding to the process of making art, the works Senza titolo (Untitled) and Illocazione (Illocation) are iterations of Listorti's reflections, as they narrate the time of an artwork, its pauses and waiting periods, the rough spots where dots and marks fall, in a clinamen that both creates and continually mutates space.
