The exhibition season at Studio G7 continues with Fuso Orario, Letizia Cariello’s solo exhibition hosted for the first time in Bologna. With this new project, curated by Leonardo Regano, Cariello investigates the fine line between internal and external space, the two intended as intrinsic features of human nature. The artist seeks the link between the physical and spiritual body, showing a hidden anatomy of the human being which results in a perceptual potentiality, a research inspired by the principles of the Spiritual Geometry and the theosophical and Neoplatonic theories.
Seven Volumes compose the wide wall installation; these are arranged according to a star-shaped scheme, tracing a map of the sky witnessing the moment when Jupiter and Saturn meet. The Volumes ideally represent the interaction among the seven thin layers of human nature, here explored according to the individual colors revealing the light radiation. A marble disk is placed on top of each Volume, following the tone shade of the polyhedron itself. The calendar engraved on the marble surface links the perception of terrestrial time, with its different time zones, both to an archaic ego time and to the ethereal world. The idea of time, considered as the control over the existence, is annihilated in the confrontation with the unconscious and the uncertainty of a spiritual world which can only be perceived.
The installation is part of the site-specific work named Sistema Sottile, a wall embroidery that the artist creates for the first time with threads of different colors, linked together in order to create a geometric figure recalling the pattern of Jupiter and Saturn conjunction.
